I am feeling especially grateful today. Life has a way of keeping us busy and distracted, and oblivious to most things around us. It is crucial that we as human beings allow ourselves to enjoy and soak in all the BIG and small wonders Life has in store for us. Some days it can be hard to name one good thing that has happened, and so easy to latch on to the many negative experiences or thoughts that have consumed us.
Imagine if each day we took the time to point out and appreciate a single good thing that happened to us that day.
A simple way to practice a more positive way of thinking, is to discuss or journal a set number of great, awesome, amazing, wonderful, touching, dazzling, or spectacular things that happen to you in a given day, or if it's difficult, try looking at your week as a whole and then reflecting.
When you are identifying the things that have happened, take a moment to think about WHY or HOW those things happened. Ask yourself-
*How did this ---- thing happen to me?
*What strengths did I utilize to contribute to this --- thing happening ?
*What does this mean to me?
*How does this help me in the future/ or what can I take from this?
This is a fun and insightful conversation to have with children, partners, students, and clients a like.
